General information
Participation is restricted to 35 participants.
Registration is scheduled on Sunday, September 17th, from 14:00, at
the Montvale Hotel.
Morning sessions and
tutorials
The school will be held from September 18th to 22nd at Center Stage, which is
located in close proximity to the Montvale Hotel. The morning
sessions will be devoted to lectures by experts. The afternoons
will be dedicated to practical sessions. In the tutorials it will be
shown
how to obtain information concerning various observables using the CRYSTAL code.
Posters
Participants will have the opportunity to present posters which will be
on
display for the whole period and discussed during a special session on
the afternoon of Thursday the 21st.
Social Events
Sunday, September 17, 2006: Welcome Reception in
the Montvale’s Atrium, after the opening ceremony and preliminary
session.
Wednesday, September 20, 2006: Afternoon
tour of WSU’s Institute for Shock Physics in Pullman, Washington.
Friday, September 22, 2006: Final Banquet at
Center Stage.
Participation fee
The participation fee is $700 and assists in covering
school expenses. The following are included as a part of the ASCS
2006 school:
- Coffee Breaks - each morning and afternoon
- Lunch
- All Social Events
Notes:
- Dinners on September 17th-21st are not included.
Lodging
The Montvale Hotel has been selected as the primary lodging facility
for students attending the conference. It approximately 33 steps
from the Montvale to Center Stage, where the lectures and tutorials
will occur. Because the hotel has a limited number of rooms,
participants are highly encouraged to make reservations as early as
possible. A block of rooms has been reserved at a special
rate. To obtain this special rate, reservations must be made
before September 2, 2006. Please ask for the ASCS 2006
block when making your reservation.
If the Montvale Hotel has been booked, a secondary block of rooms has
been made available at the
Ridpath
Hotel. Please ask for the ASCS 2006 block when making your
reservation.
Grants
Grants to pay for attendance at the ASCS 2006 school are
available! The grants will cover substantial costs related to the
school, such as the participation fee, lodging, and travel expenses,
including airfare. These grants
are available to selected participants of the conference. PhD
candidates and PostDocs will be given preference. On the
application to attend, please indicate that you would like to be
considered for a grant. A letter of recommendation must be
provided by your supervisor, group leader, or senior scientist.
